The area features a sandy bay with seagrass beds and an underlying rock reef that attracts various fish and other sea creatures like pipefish, seahorses, and schooling pelagics. With a large island at its centre, Avoca Lake (2 minutes from Rockpool House) offers several creeks, passages, wetlands and wide expanses to explore via a people-powered pedalboat. With no age limit and a lifejacket for all passengers, this activity is particularly fun for kids. Afterwards, unwind in the adjoining park complete with shady picnic spots and barbecue areas — perfect for a leisurely day outdoors.
